About Sweet Dreams:

Sweet Dreams was started in 2010 by Michelle Reynolds. She began with a licensed kitchen in her home where she decorated cakes for about 4 years. She had considered opening a bakery for a couple years when she found one for sale on Craigs List. After a month or so of negotiations, she was all set to purchase the existing business. The original owner however, backed out at the last minute and decided to sell to one of her employees instead. Michelle was devastated. But, she was not alone. Through the support of her husband Randy, and her children Jamie and Corey, it was decided she would start fresh!

So, we started the hunt for a suitable space to buy or lease. After looking at several locations, we found 433 Fulton St. in Waverly, NY to be a nice location.

Now began construction. The building we leased was previously occupied by an insurance company. We needed to remove walls, build walls, finish unfinished rooms, run new electrical and add new plumbing to make the space functional. The electrical and plumbing was contracted, some destruction and construction was done by us, and some was done by family and friends. While construction was being completed, Michelle used every free minute to find equipment, display cases, work tables, etc. She was able to find some items locally. She found such a good deal on some equipment, we drove to N. Carolina to pick it up! On the way home from that trip, we started to discuss a business name. After a few hours and many miles, we decided to go with Sweet Dreams. We came up with this name because it was our "sweet dream" to make this a reality.

One of the most difficult steps to starting up may have been working on a menu. Michelle was certain to do custom cakes and cupcakes. Jamie was going to make cookies. And Randy was going to make fudge. The menu seems to be an ongoing process. We have added many items and taken some away. Jamie has proven to be very creative and her "dirt cups" are a big hit. Michelle has also done very well with her own special cake and icing recipes. Randy is currently offering 18 different flavors of fudge.
